Country music star Kenny Chesney has postponed his entire 2021 tour — including a stop at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field — for the second time because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Chesney announced Tuesday on social media that the tour would be pushed back to 2022. The Chillaxifacation tour was originally supposed to visit Pittsburgh on May 30, 2020, before being rescheduled for June 12, 2021.
Concerns about fans’ health and safety led to the decision. Chesney also expressed concerns about how much social distancing would be necessary as well as who would make decisions about limiting fans.
“I have held on all these months, thinking I was going to get to see your faces soon. On bad days, that thought made me smile, gave me patience, inspired me to be my better self,” Chesney wrote on Twitter. “Seeing your faces, though, reminds me of what I said when we postponed last year: I won’t take chances with people I love.”

All current tickets will be honored when the tour is rescheduled, but refunds may also be requested from the original point of purchase.
Chesney, a four-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, last played in Pittsburgh on June 2, 2018, at Heinz Field.
There have been concerns at past Chesney concerts about the mountains of garbage left behind by concertgoers.
