Nicki Minaj slams MSNBC's Joy Reid in COVID vaccine firestorm - New York Post

Nicki Minaj is unleashing on MSNBC’s Joy Reid for being “so thirsty to down another black woman,” after the TV host lectured the rapper for her COVID-19 vaccine skepticism.

Minaj’s expletive-laden rant against Reid was posted to Twitter Monday night after the rap star wrote about her hesitancy to get the shot amid Met Gala requiring proof of vaccination.

“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one,” Minaj tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, the rapper wrote: “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”

Minaj’s vaccine skepticism didn’t sit well with the MSNBC host, who dedicated a portion of her show “The ReidOut” to rail against the rapper and accuse her of not promoting the shot to her 22 million Twitter followers.

Reid said she was done hand-holding and begging unvaccinated people who do “research on Tik Tok” to get the shot.

“People like Nicki Minaj, you have a platform that’s 22 million followers. I have 2 million,” Reid said.

“For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives, my God, you could do better than that. It’s a blessing. It’s a blessing that you got that. That people listen to you and they listen to you more than they listen to me,” she said.

“For you to use your platform to put people in the position of dying from a disease they don’t have to die from, oh, my God! As a hip-hop fan, as somebody who is your fan, I’m so sad that you did that. So sad that you did that, sister. Oh, my God. Lord.”

Minaj then turned on Reid in a series of profanity-laden tweets that accused the TV host of lying, spreading a false narrative and trying to “down a black woman.”

“This is what happens when you’re so thirsty to down another black woman (by the request of the white man), that you didn’t bother to read all my tweets. ‘My God SISTER do better’ imagine getting ur dumb a– on tv a min after a tweet to spread a false narrative about a black woman,” Minaj tweeted.

The rapper then dragged up an undated tweet from Reid that questioned how people could trust the FDA and CDC regarding the vaccine, as well as 2018 reports in which the TV host was revealed to have written homophobic blog posts.

“A lying homophobic c–n. I guess I can join in the reindeer games too right? Ppl can go on tv & lie on me, I can report on them, too right? Smiling face. Doesn’t have to be truths. It can be half truths. Uncle Tomiana asked who on earth would trust the US FDA guys…,” Minaj tweeted.

Reid hasn’t publicly responded to being put on blast by Minaj.
